PLACE: #3 - 2008-04-26 - Beechwood Farms Nature Reserve
TIME: 9:45am arrival, 10am (sharp!) hike
TRAILS: Beechwood Farms Nature Reserve Loop
DIRECTIONS: From Pgh, take PA 28 North to Exit 5B, PA 8 North. At first light, turn right onto Kittanning Road (turns into Dorseyville Road) and follow for 4.5 miles. Turn left into the parking lot.
DETAILS: This short, 1.1 mile loop, is mostly shaded and should present us with some beautiful native trees and flowers. If the kids want more, there are several additional trails and spurs that we can explore, a total of 5 miles available to us (by which time the adults will be pretty exhausted!). Beechwood Farms is one of the largest nature reserves and environmental-education centers in Western Pennsylvania.
